Shopping in South Korea: Outlets, Duty-Free and Tax Refunds

Outlets are ordinary retail facilities, unlike airport or downtown duty-free shops. Store tax refunds are a separate system, so choose where to shop and check your departure plans.

Choose the type of shopping first

Compare outlet addresses and transport options. For duty-free shopping, check whether you are departing on an international flight or traveling from Jeju to another part of Korea. If you need a tax refund, confirm that the store participates before paying.

Branch information with reviewed sources

We link only to branch pages whose photos and source material have been reviewed. The total number of branches collected is different from the number with currently published detail pages. We do not guess conditions for branches whose evidence remains on hold.

The reviewed Korean source comparison was checked on 26 October 2026; this is not a claim that every shop was freshly checked. The linked Korea Tourism Organization material distinguishes duty-free shopping from tax refunds.

Before you visit

Are all outlet purchases tax-free?

No. Ordinary outlet shopping, duty-free shopping and tax refunds for eligible visitors are different. Eligibility depends on the participating store, goods and shopper.

Can I take duty-free purchases with me right away?

It depends on how and where you buy the goods. In particular, downtown duty-free purchases and Jeju designated duty-free purchases can have collection steps tied to your departure, so check them against your itinerary.
