Duty-Free Shopping in Korea: Buying and Collecting Your Purchases
Downtown and airport duty-free shops for international departures are separate from designated duty-free shops used when traveling from Jeju to another part of Korea. First identify your departure, then check the seller’s eligibility and collection requirements.
Downtown and airport duty-free shops for international departures
When choosing a downtown or airport duty-free shop, check your departure airport and terminal and how you will collect purchases. Do not assume that goods bought downtown can all be taken away immediately. Include the seller’s designated collection point and cutoff time in your itinerary.
When traveling from Jeju to another part of Korea
Jeju Tourism Organization says purchases from its Jungmun store are collected at the Jeju Airport or Jeju Port collection point, and identification and a boarding pass are required at purchase and collection. Its guidance for foreign visitors refers to a passport or alien registration card. Prepare the documents relevant to your trip. JDC and Jeju Tourism Organization shops and collection points are separate; do not treat them as one operator.
Plan reservations and collection separately
JDC’s online reservation guide describes completing payment and collection at an airport counter after check-in and security screening, by presenting identification and a boarding pass. Reserved goods may still sell out depending on stock, and reservation dates and prices may change. A reservation alone does not guarantee collection.
Branch hours and addresses not freshly rechecked
The collected addresses and hours for every individual branch have not all been compared again. This guide does not state unverified branch schedules or fixed purchase limits. Follow the linked operators’ current store and usage information.

Before you visit
Are Jeju designated duty-free shops the same as international duty-free shops?
No. Jeju designated duty-free shopping for travel to another part of Korea is distinct from duty-free shopping for international departures. Follow the purchase and collection steps for the operator and departure you will use.
What do I need to collect a Jeju duty-free reservation?
JDC’s online reservation guidance says to present identification and a boarding pass at payment and collection. Do not assume another operator uses the same shop or collection point; check your reservation and departure details.
