Gyeongju, the former capital of Silla, keeps its history close to everyday life. The burial mounds of Daereungwon, Cheomseongdae Observatory and Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond recall the ancient royal city, while Bulguksa Temple and Seokguram Grotto preserve its Buddhist heritage.
