Seoul brings together royal palaces, traditional hanok neighbourhoods and contemporary culture. Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung trace the history of the Joseon dynasty, while Bukchon offers a glimpse of traditional Korean homes. Hongdae’s music and cafés and the striking architecture of Dongdaemun Design Plaza reveal another side of the capital. Views from Namsan and market food such as bindaetteok pancakes and gimbap at Gwangjang Market add to a city that changes character from neighbourhood to neighbourhood.

THE QUICK ANSWER

How can I combine a Seoul visit with market food?

For a market meal, use Jongno 5-ga on Line 1 and follow Exit 8 towards Gwangjang Market. Compare bindaetteok with gimbap before choosing a stall. If you are arriving with luggage, go to your stay first or compare a taxi to the market entrance.

YOUR VISIT, CONNECTED

Plan the visit, and the way back

01

Arrive at the right place

Choose the entrance or a single stop in the official guide first. A regional or trail name is not a boarding or arrival point.

02

Eat & choose a base

Map results can include distant businesses. Check the walking or driving journey to a restaurant before choosing it. For a stay, compare arrival access and the evening return.

03

Return or move on

Check the last service on every leg before leaving. The return stop may be across the road or at another entrance.

No car, late finish, rain, luggage or access needs?

Without a car

Start with one cluster of places. Check bus direction, the return stop and the last departure before adding another area.

Bus booking & payment

Late finish or cancelled service

Keep your stay address ready. Ask for a pickup quote and return arrangement; a map route does not confirm taxi availability.

Taxi options

Rain or a closed attraction

Check the operator before departing, then choose another nearby place. Keep any return booking in mind when changing the day.

Other places in this region

Bags, children or step-free access

Confirm lift access, slopes, toilets and the exact drop-off with the venue. Do not infer accessibility from a map or photograph.
